How Does Beconase Work?

Beconase contains an active ingredient which is a synthetic version of natural corticosteroid hormones in the body that control the inflammatory responses. When sprayed into the nose, the anti-inflammatory corticosteroid stops the response to the allergen, this could be anything from pollen, animal hair, dust, etc. The spray causes reductions in irritation and swelling in the nasal passage. The corticosteroids that are contained in the medicine essentially control the body’s reaction to allergens that should usually be harmless.

Beconase Dosage

Beconase nasal spray is fairly easy to use and our team at MedsRUs will walk you through the step-by-step application of the medication to ensure that you are using it right and using the correct amount. The usual adult dosage of Beconase is 2 puffs of the spray in each nostril in the morning and evening, but this can be reduced to 1 puff if your symptoms have reduced. When using Beconase, you should stick to the recommended dosage and use the product no more than 3 times a day.

How Do You Use Beconase?

Before using Beconase you should always remember to shake the solution thoroughly to ensure that it is properly mixed, then you should remove the dust cap. Remember you may need to pump the bottle a few times before any spray comes out. You should then clear your nose by gently blowing it and tilting your head forward. You then place the nozzle in the nostril and spray the bottle while held upright, repeat this in the other nostril. Clean the nozzle after every use and replace the dust cap.

Side Effects of Beconase

Like any other medication, Beconase can have some side effects, however rare they are. Some side effects that could come with Beconase nasal spray are:

• Unpleasant taste and smells
• Pain in the nose or nosebleeds
• Irritation to the nose or throat
• Eye problems like pain or blurred vision

One serious side effect is that you have an allergic reaction to the spray, if this occurs then you should stop using the medication immediately and contact your GP or pharmacist about any other medications that are available for you.

Is Beconase Suitable For Me?

Beconase is suitable for most adults over the age of 18 if they are struggling with symptoms of allergic rhinitis. If you are being affected by nose and eye irritation daily, Beconase may be the medicine that helps you manage your daily symptoms so that you can go about your day allergy-free.

Who is Beconase Not Suitable For?

For some people who suffer from allergic rhinitis or any other allergies, Beconase isn’t always the best treatment because it can affect other medications you are taking and cause side effects if you suffer from any existing health conditions. You shouldn’t take Beconase if:

• You are under the age of 18
• Suffer from a beclomethasone allergy or any other allergy to ingredients in this medication
• You have recently had surgery on the nose area
• Suffered an injury to your nose
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Suffer from ulcers or infections to your nose
• Suffer from tuberculosis

Your GP or pharmacist will discuss whether it is safe for you to take Beconase based on the information that you provide them with about your medical history and current condition. It is important to tell your healthcare provider if any of the above apply to you.

Pregnancy and Beconase

Beconase nasal spray is not recommended for those who are pregnant, trying for a baby, or breastfeeding. In some cases, it will be prescribed by doctors, but only when necessary and the doctor will have assessed the risks and benefits of prescribing it before doing so.

Beconase and Other Medicines

You must inform your GP or pharmacist if you are taking any other medication, whether they are prescription or non-prescription medicines. This is to ensure that no interaction could cause side effects or problems between Beconase and any other medicine.

It is not common for Beconase to negatively interact with any other medicines, but it is important for you to still let your GP or pharmacist know about other medicines your taking. This includes any topical steroid creams as Beconase nasal spray is not to be taken with any other corticosteroid medications.
